Trick Water Skiing

Trick water skiing is a type of water skiing that is composed of fancy, complicated and thrilling turn movements using either one or two trick skis. This type of water skiing is commonly performed by experienced or professional skier. It entails lot of practice, perseverance and outstanding body condition.

Trick water skiing is frequently seen in competition wherein each trick skier is given points based on the complexity of their maneuvers. The harder the trick, the higher the points and the skier with most complex and fancy tricks usually wins.

Because trick water skiing involves lot of difficult turns, movements or maneuvers, it requires the skier participant to have an intense good balance and capability to perform under extreme pressure. Deep concentration is needed because even a slight movement error will yield a sudden failure.

Every trick skier is entitled and given two rounds where the skier’s aim is to perform as many hard tricks as they possibly can. Each trick round lasts for about twenty seconds. The skier is watched and assessed by a set of panel that is composed of five judges whose duty is to judge whether the trick or maneuver was performed and completed in the correct way and with in the set time frame.

For the skier to get the predetermined point for each maneuver or trick, it must be found out that the trick was exhibited appropriately, that the performed trick is considered and listed as an official trick, and that the trick was done according to the confirmed trick list of the skier. When the trick is accordingly performed and meet all the said considerations, then the trick will receive a full point. Failure to meet any of the above requirement will eventually counted as zero.

When the skier managed and successfully finished the two rounds, the total point value for each trick is computed by summing up the points together from the majority of at least three judges. The final score will be then calculated by adding together the points from all the correctly preformed tricks. The skier with the highest total will be named as the winner of that said trick event.

Participating and engaging in these water tricks competition entails perfection that can be only achieved by regular and continuous practice. The skier under this trick water skiing needs to have perseverance, endurance and a lot of audacity. The skier that is doing trick water skiing is more prone to get hurt and injury if he is not well trained or not aware on how water tricks are accurately done.

However, since trick water skiing is getting more popular nowadays, there are several training videos available in the market and in your local skiing association that can help you learn the tricks and can provide you information on how each trick is properly executed. Trick skiing is not for beginners; the novice should first master the fundamental of water skiing and be able to water ski with utmost confidence and accuracy before he can try to do some tricks.
