Water Skiing and Feet Distance

— March 12, 2007

Feel something awkward while skiing? Why not check the position of your feet before adjusting your fin? I glimpsed upon an article that mentioned the importance of distances between your feet when skiing. It says that the appropriate distance between your front foot and rear foot is as vital as with any fin adjustment.

The position of the feet when skiing does affect the intensity of our movement. Placing the feet apart allows a skier to have more power in pushing the ski around on the on side turn. And placing the feet closer allows skier to apply the necessary pressure to the front of the ski on the off side turn.

  1. I definately would agree. The position of the feet is vital to skiing at full potential. Something as simple as boot size on the ski can cause problems as well. Back when I first started skiing, I had the wrong size boot, and it caused me to be unbalanced. With a tigher fit boot on the ski, I had so much more control of my movements.
