Water Skiers As Olympic Torch Carrier

— May 16, 2008

I stumbled upon the official website of International Water Skiing Federation  today and I came across their write-up about the water ski personalities like IWSF Vice President Max Kirwan, outstanding overall skier Javier Julio, PanAm Games Waterski medalist Georgi Renosto and former Moomba Masters water ski athlete Mark Beretta who carried the torch in different Olympics.

My first reaction is a big WOW because it is indeed a big honor for any athlete to represent and carry the Olympic.  And this is something to be proud of by all water skiers because we are given a chance to carry the torch even though the water skiing sport is only considered as a recognized international sport and not as one of the official Olympic sports in Olympic Movement.  But of course, being a Recognized International Sport is good enough because water skiing sport is always represented in the annual meetings of the International Olympic Committee Executive Board.
