Although the 2008 IWSF Wakeboard World Championships in the beautiful island of the Philippines has been canceled, the alternate wakeboarding event: the 2008 World Wakeboard Championships  is now happening over the Philippines. The event is taking place at the Camarines Sur Water Sports Complex and hosted by Governor Lray Villafuerte who is also the President of Philippines Waterski and Wakeboard Federation.

The said wakeboarding championships started last July 1, 2008 and will run July 6, 2008. It is participated by professional wakeboarders from the USA, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Netherland, Hungary and Bulgaria, South Africa and Asian countries like Thailand, Korea and Philippines. Aside from the various wakeboarding contests, the 2008 World Wakeboard Championships likewise features free concerts, legendary C-Dub parties and Airsports Demonstration from the Ozone Team from the USA.
