Taking Care Of You Water Ski Rope
Even ropes need maintenance but did you know that rope is said to the one of the most often neglected part of water skiing gear? And yet, it plays a vital role in safe water skiing. It may be just a piece of thick thread but this is the only one that connects the skier from the boat. Hence, the skier needs to make sure that he/she is using a sturdy skiing rope or an accident may happen.
So what do you need to do to take care of your rope and maintain its durability? Well, all you need to do is wash the rope each after your skiing activity and hang it until dry in a shaded area before keeping it. Never expose it to sunlight because direct sunlight can weaken the structure of the rope especially its elasticity.
In case you bought a new rope, one good way to test its durability prior to actually using it in water skiing is to stretch it. You can do it by tying one of its ends in a pole or anything that is stable and pull it the other end by attaching it to a car or anything that moves with engine or motor. This is a good way to put enough strain on the rope that simulates the strain that it can get from water skiing.
