Recreational Boaters Need Your Support

— May 6, 2008

I have read from USA Water Ski Federation that there is a possibility that recreational boaters in the US will need to obtain a federal or state permit in order to operate their boats even if it is just for water skiing and other recreational boating activities.

If this will happen, recreational boaters will be subjected to numerous annual fees such as bureaucratic red tape, confusing and potentially state-by-state regulations, citizen suits and $32,000 per day penalties for non-compliance. In short, the regulations that are being imposed in commercial fishing boats, cruise ships, cargo ships and supertankers will also be imposed to ordinary recreational boaters.

I do not think this regulation is fair because recreational boaters do not have a devastating effect on water pollution as compared to huge ships. So let us support THE CLEAN BOATING ACT OF 2008 by logging onto BoatBlue and help telling the Congress to pass the Clean Boating Act of 2008.
