Longest Water-Skiing Marathon

— October 9, 2006

From the last time that I found out and wrote about George Blair who hold the record in Guinness as the oldest barefoot water skier, it made me curious to look for other trivia in water ski sport…And I am lucky to find another one: The world’s longest water skiing marathon.

I can not imagine and can’t actually believe that two water skiers from Canada in the name of Ralph Hildebrand and Dave Phillips, managed to water ski for 56 hrs, 35 mins, 3 secs. This is more than 2 days! The non-stop marathon needs a huge amount of energy and vitality and this accomplishment is unsurpassable to this day.

This amazing event happened more than 12 years ago, June 12, 1994 around Indian Arm in British Columbia, Canada. The spectator used spotlights and infrared binoculars to monitor the duo.
